In this day and age, the demand for immediate access to necessary data is paramount for consumers of electronics. From computers to smartphones, we are living in a fast-moving world that may demand of us answers we need references to acquire. We have jobs that require us to port our work from one location to another, being able to access anything we need quickly easily. We demand reliability, stability, and speed. As a big player in the computer industry, HP has been a dominant force in the world of electronics. Widely regarded in the top 5 brand listing, HP’s laptop computers are widely sold and acquired by consumers around the globe.
But why choose an HP laptop, or perhaps, why opt for another type? Let’s take a look at some pros and cons of HP Laptops.
Pros of HP Laptops
1.) Portability. The number one laptop advantage, in general, is the ability to move them from one location to another easily. Their shape and design are conducive to easily fitting in backpacks, suitcases, or even larger purses. They are generally light and do not require a lot of effort to transport. Whether you are carrying one from meeting to meeting in an office building, sitting in a coffee shop, or traveling cross country for work, HP laptops are easy and accessible in most situations.
2.) Easy Setup. HP laptops are very easy to set up. Even when opening the computer for the first time, it takes merely plugging it into an outlet and a push of the power button to bring up a series of easy to follow instructions that would allow even a novice user to get their system up and running quickly.
3.) No Need for Peripherals. While there are external mouse or keyboard components that can be used with a laptop, the HP laptops are an all in one machine, allowing a user to use any functions of a computer with just the laptop alone.
4.) Technology. Most newer models of HP laptops come superior processing power, vibrant screen resolution, and ample hard drive space.
5.) Internet Access. The ability to quickly connect to WiFi is a giant plus of laptops overall, as even most public places have WiFi capabilities. Therefore access to the internet from a laptop can be achieved from almost anywhere.
Cons of Owning an HP Laptop
1.) Durability. The one disadvantage which comes with portability is the question of strength. A mobile object like a laptop stands a far greater chance of being broken or damaged than something stationary. HP laptops, therefore, are certainly more fragile than their desktop counterparts. Still, they are also often more situations where they can be dropped, have something spill on them, or be otherwise physically damaged.
2.) Batteries. There are specific rules about battery use in general, such as charging fully to capacity being negative because it ends up degrading the battery life faster. With laptops, which could end up staying plugged in all day by some users, the batteries can be unpredictable. Users who may be too busy or not actively know about the technical limitations of battery capacities can run their battery out faster by fully charging or allowing the battery to deplete too often fully.
3.) Updates. Any HP laptop with an operating system will occasionally need updates. Depending on the nature of the update (critical, urgent, routine, etc) the updates can be sprung on the user without much of choice. Additionally, with multiple preinstalled software, it is up to the user to keep track of what has been updated and what requires it. Though most come with ample warning, some OS updates can be very lengthy, rendering the user incapable of actually using the PC.
4.) Price. Depending on the user’s needs, some laptops can run pretty low in cost, comparatively speaking. But as they say, “you get what you pay for.” Paying a low price can land you with a good HP laptop, but it usually means having smaller virtual memory, smaller hard drive, reduced speed, smaller screen, and at times lack ample ports or even CD drives. The higher the price, the more you get, but at times the tipping point of the price might not be enough to justify the expense.
